Oswald has received numerous honors and awards, including:

• Colombian Government Jury for the Colombian Government National Senior Management Award –2011.
• Ernst & Young – EY – Colombia Entrepreneur of the Year in 2015
• In 2016 he represented Colombia in the final EY World Entrepreneur of the Year competition in Monaco.
• The President of Austria’s Order of Merit – Gold Award in 2018. 

Oswald received his education at the German School of Barranquilla in 1975, followed by his studies in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad de América in Bogotá from 1976-1978.  He then received his degree in Business Administration from Universidad Autónoma del Caribe in Barranquilla in 1989. Furthering his education, he obtained a degree in High Management from Universidad de los Andes in 1994 and completed the Kellogg CEO Management Program at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, USA, in 1995. Oswald has also attended more than 150 seminars and congresses on various subjects such as leadership, corporate strategy, competitive strategy, innovation, creativity, marketing, advertising, finance, business valuation, family businesses, crisis management, and transformation.

Since 1982 Oswald has been married to Margarita V. Schnurbusch, a Preschool Education Specialist, and they have three children: Stephanie, a Social Communicator, Emil, an Industrial Engineer with a M.S.E, and Fritz Wilhelm, who has a bachelors degree in Finance and a Master of Science in Finance.

He is fluent in Spanish, German and English. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, reading, writing, golf, swimming, and taking long walks.
