Crisis Management

“When written in Chinese, the word crisis is composed of two characters - one represents danger, and the other represents opportunity.”

― JOHN F. KENNEDY ―

Crises can be better overcome when the very small signs are identified in time, but more importantly: when we have prepared ourselves to face them. It is not always possible to anticipate. To recognize a crisis is to be able to see it with the mind. There are two major types of crises in business organizations: corporate or institutional and “political.”

Governance helps to avoid or mitigate frictions that can arise for different reasons that transparency helps to understand. Despite these efforts, it is difficult to avoid these types of tensions that can be generated or transferred by external agents outside the family or the company.

With the right tools you can manage the differences that exist in the complex family and business world. Without these, power and authority “be” for everyone and what follows is anarchic deterioration: coalitions or factions and then a power struggle or dispute. History shows that the above is the worst scenario and, in countless cases, if not the majority, they did not have an effective capacity to intervene at the right time. The family, shareholders and the company must be prepared to have an effective response capacity; Only then can they try to anticipate and successfully meet the great challenges.
